Accredited Visitor Information Centres closed in Moreton Bay Region

Moreton Bay Region’s eight accredited Visitor Information Centres (VICs) managed by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) are closed until further notice, following the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The effects the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis are being felt all over the world, and unfortunately, Moreton Bay Region is no different.

As a result, MBRIT has taken action for the safety of VIC volunteers and the community, by closing accredited VIC as of today, explains CEO Shane Newcombe.

“At MBRIT, our first priority is the health and wellbeing of not only our staff and volunteers, but of our entire tourism industry and community, who undoubtedly, are and will be hit hard by this crisis,” he said.

With a number of the VIC volunteers over the age of 55 years, their safety has been MBRIT’s paramount concern and was a key factor in deciding to close the accredited VICs.

“To all of our wonderful volunteers who make such a positive contribution to the visitor experience, I thank you for your unwavering support and patience as we navigate through this difficult time.”
