COVID-19 UPDATE - Redcliffe Festival of Sails cancelled

By now, the effects of the global pandemic, the Coronavirus (COVID-19), are being felt all over the world. Unfortunately, Moreton Bay Region is no different.

At Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism, our first priority is the health and wellbeing of not only our staff and volunteers, but of our entire tourism industry and community, who undoubtedly, are and will be hit hard by this crisis.

Our team has been closely monitoring the unfolding coronavirus situation, particularly on matters pertaining to decisions on events and large gatherings of more than 500 people, we are following the advice of Queensland Health and Australian Department of Health.

Taking this advice and public safety into account, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Redcliffe Festival of Sails celebrations at Suttons Beach, on Good Friday.

All stakeholders involved with the delivery of this event, will be contacted by the MBRIT team over the coming hours.

We, just like you, are extremely disappointed and saddened by the decision to cancel this much-loved community celebration, however the safety and welfare of festival guests are our critical priority and the decision was made with this at the forefront.

In regards to all other upcoming events delivered by MBRIT in the foreseeable future – MBRIT are working through the implications of the advice from trusted sources and will provide updates as soon as information becomes available and decisions are made.
