Tourism Industry - Employee Assistance Program

Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) have announced its support of the region’s tourism industry, who are already feeling the impacts of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe announced that the organisation will extend its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), delivered by Max Solutions, to eligible businesses operating in the Moreton Bay Region.

“We acknowledge that many sectors of our economy are being impacted by this crisis including Moreton Bay’s $1 billion tourism economy that supports more than 5,000 jobs in over 3,000 businesses,” he said.

“A number of the businesses that will be hit hardest by this crisis will be many of our small owner-operators, many who are already feeling the impacts on not just a business but also a personal and emotional level.”

To help support local business operators and employees feeling this stress, MBRIT has extended its organisation’s EAP to eligible local businesses operating within the tourism industry.

The service will provide confidential short-term counselling, at no cost to employers and employees of eligible businesses and can be accessed for both professional and personal issues, including financial counselling.

“The counselling services can be made online via video or over the phone, which is a great relief for many in the current environment.”
